ABOUT ME
Hello, I'm Lyn of Lyn arts. And yes
there is a Lyn. I get that all the time. When I first was to
open my first store I worked on the name ......forever.......
Finally one of my friends said..." would you STOP..40. call it Lyn-Arts".
And I gave him a big kiss and it's been Lyn Arts ever since.
Cannot remember a time when I was not producing some
type of art?. Even when small (6-8years old) I would glue items together and create a fun
art object. I could spend days hunting small rock, glass and such to border
my creations. I guess I was a picture framer at heart even then. And
while the other girls played with paper dolls, I made the furniture for
their houses.
After trying a number of
“jobs” from hair styling, secretary, dept store clerk, doctor’s
assistant, pet training and grooming ….I finally got my dream (or nightmare)
and opened a retail store. I guess I’ve done "OK" because I’ve managed
to keep the doors open for over 40 years. Lately I’ve been
downsizing and cleaning out my closets and finding homes for some my treasures
(schools, the local Boys/Girls clubs, church missionaries, etc.. )
I have worked with a major flower maker doing design work and tradeshows,
about 10 years; traveled and organized tradeshows with an importer of
Christmas/all season ornaments (maybe 3 years; designed ribbon for one of
the largest ribbon companies in the US for 15 years; designed and did
tradeshows with a feather company for about 12 years. Of course a few
others sandwiches in there somewhere. But the "funnest" was
teaching craft classes on cruise lines for their passengers. No pay,
but free cruises.
My plan is to simplify my life so I can get back to
doing some creating. I’m tired of managing a store front and never having
enough time to “play”.
There is not a favorite for me because I like oils,
acrylics, watercolors, clay, mixed media, stained glass, face painting, marbling,
papermaking, bookbinding, costuming, mask making, sewing, mosaics, jewelry constructions, lamp work, fusing
and simply stringing beads. And I bought supplies to do the Precious Metal
and never used it and I bought dyes to do Henna painting and never touched it.
They are on a "someday" list.
Please click around my web site and if you need
something, give me a call or an e-mail and if I can help I certainly will.
At the new location (downsized space) we will still be
doing 1) picture framing, 2) stained glass and 3) feathers and I’m sure some
4)classes. I really enjoy the students. But we will be doing classes
"by appointment only".
I just uploaded a Picture Framing Web-Site
for those who want a "custom frame" at "ready made prices" and they want to do
it them selves. So check out

(Find any errors in the site let me know (it's my first web site- so even
with errors, I'm excited about it).
